He sought me, and he bought me with his redeeming blood.... Do you remember that song? It was a church hymn by E.M. Bartlett, that was sung all the way back from the late 30's. It was written in 1939, and it is still so alive, popular, beloved and relevant today. I love that song! It gives me great comfort and joy to sing it and to know my victory is in Jesus. We are forgiven and redeemed; Ephesians 1:7 "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace." We are washed clean; 1 John 1:7 "...and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." and we are saved, by the blood of Jesus; Leviticus 17:11 "For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life." Revelation 12:11 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death" Jesus is the Lamb that was slain. The greek word for "overcome" is Nikao which means "to overcome" or "to be victorious" over. Jesus went to the cross at Calvary, shed his blood, died for us and he paid for it all, once and for all of us. He rose from the grave three days later and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father, and we are right there with him. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places. Ephesians 2:6 "For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus." 1 John 5:4 "For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." Amen!
